APPARENTLY we’re forecasting correctly… again.
Check out the new bridal trend originating on the red carpet that Brides is reporting on from their Wedded Bits blog.

So most of you know that the magazine industry is fighting an uphill battle thees days with the economy in the tank, and content platforms moving over to digital. Well two of Conde Nasts’ three bridal magazines are the latest victims.  Elegant Bride, and Modern Bride folded today, leaving Brides as the sole Conde Nast bridal title. They kicked up the frequency, so that Brides will now be available monthly to represent Conde in the bridal market. Gourmet and Cookie also folded today making it a death toll of four at the holy grail of magazine publishing this morning.

When I first started in this industry, my very first job was at Modern Bride, so this is especially sad for me. The staff there is really wonderful, and very good at what they do. Condolences to everyone who is affected by this.

To read the full internal memo check-in with Gawker here.

So Brides.com today has this stellar piece up about Peacock inspired wedding ideas. And you KNOW I love me some feathers. Just remember… don’t go overboard. Integrate the colors into the wedding with subtle actual peacock elements. Otherwise it’ll just look like a complete and total mess… trust me.

I did a short stint as an intern at one of the bridal mags in my post-college/pre-real world days and completely and totally loved it. Obviously. While I was there, I had to file my way through countless stationary samples from invitation companies hoping to be featured in the next big article on paper goods. I’m a pretty simple girl, so it’s tough for me to differentiate between all the loopy, letterpress that’s out there, but there’s one thing I totally fell in love with while I was there…custom wedding maps.

I know they’re not SUPER necessary. But they’re kind of great. Especially if you’re having a destination wedding where most of your guest have no idea where to find you, the happy couple, the hotel their staying in, or the nearest happy hour.  If you have the funds to splurge on one more thing to shove into your envelopes…opt for these, and if there happens to be no more room left in those envelopes, they also fit nicely and look great in welcome baskets for guests upon arrival.

Calligraphics, on Etsy does custom drawn and digitally colored custom wedding maps. The price varies depending on the number of details you want to include and how many you’ll need. It’s best to contact them directly to discuss.

For this custom map design it’s $25 and printing is either additional or on your own accord. Again…check with the seller at checkout.

If you don’t have the funds to pay someone else to draw, paint and print your beautiful wedding maps, make your own! There are plenty of DIY templates out on the web, or you can get someone with some serious artistic ability to draw them for you and then scan and print.  Wedding Mappers offers custom DIY Map Guides so you can create your own map right online with icons and styles that match your wedding!

The wedding cake is so often a detail that is pined over by the bride and groom, but I’ll be honest here… A lot of people don’t even eat the cake.

I know! It’s so much money, there are so many choices… blah blah.

But some people ( your college roommates) are  too busy throwing elbows at the bar and gettin’ down on the dance floor to worry about red velvet vs. carrot.

BUT I know… some people eat the cake.

Personally, I just think it looks pretty…

So I wanted to give you some of my favorites as inspiration for whimsy and excitement in the dessert department.

So with that said… let there be cake.

Hi ladies! I told you there were changes a brewin’…

After much thought we’ve decided to expand Be My Bridesmaid  to all of the ladies of the aisle. So Wedding Belles Online is for the bride-to-be, and her bridesmaids to plan and gather together for the big day. After all you’re all belles of the wedding!

We realized that a lot of our readers were brides, reading up on how the world looks through the eyes of her bridesmaids anyway, so we figured we include everyone in the fun!

Embrace the change. It’s good I promise. You won’t even notice. And when you do, you’ll love it!

Thank you so much for your unending support and patience!
