The Oscars were last night, and as much as I wanted them to be funny because of Alec and Steve, those SNL, stand-up, It’s Complicated heavyweights, it sucked.  The only good things about last night were NPH’s opening song, Sandy’s acceptance speech, George Clooney’s faces, and SJP’s dress. That girl does not disappoint. And there was Matthew, a prop basking in the glow from SJP’s super awesome dress.  At least Ferris got a few words in during the John Hughes tribute.
“Hey Ferris, is today you’re day off?”
Oh, look, Matthew made a funny.
Maggie, Rachel McAdams and Sandra looked beautiful. There were some looks I could have done without, namely Jennifer Lopez’s left hip…

Have any of you ever seen the movie Easter Parade with Fred Astaire and Judy Garland? I watched it yesterday for the first time, and let me tell you… 5th avenue in NYC on Easter… is not your traditional Easter Parade. In fact… it’s the complete opposite.

After a super delicious brunch at Sarabeth’s we headed over to St. Patrick’s Cathedral for mass… but not before passing the spring edition of the Village Halloween parade out front.

This was a far cry from the pink and green patterns at sunrise mass on the South Carolina coast, that I’m used to. But it was hilarious and super entertaining. I can’t figure out if the characters strutting up and down 5th avenue were tourists (some had their children dressed up in ridiculous hats too … those poor kids!) or native New Yorkers. My guess is a little bit of both.

Either way… I was inspired (kind of) by the Easter parade. After all if you can’t wear a hat on Easter, when are you going to wear one? People in London get to wear hats all the time to weddings… except there they’re called FASCINATORS. Fancy right?

So, I’m proposing a serious hat comeback in honor of Judy, Fred and all the Easter bonnet wanna-be wearing New Yorkers.

My friend E is getting married in November and has decided that hats are definitely necessary for a seriously fun time. So… I’m on the hunt for the perfect hat.

(Just don’t come to my wedding in a 5 foot high hat covered in butterflies please and thank-you) I’m talking SJP, not SFU (Seriously freakin’ ugly).

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the lovely ladies of SATC are hitting the big screen this weekend, and according to New York media, hundreds of sexy singles are heading to New York City for a sex filled weekend of bachelorette style nostalgia complete with strappy stilettos and Cosmopolitans.

Personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a SATC themed Bachelorette party, especially if your bride-to-be is a serious fanatic.  Of course the timing helps too. If you are ahead of the game enough you could plan a complete SATC bachelorette complete with signature drinks, limo, movie and a night out on the town with your girlfriends in tow. Really… isn’t that what a bachelorette party is supposed to be about anyway?

I’d skip the trivia and the big pink boa, but have fun this weekend girls! AM New York gives hometown city girls some options to avoid the mayhem this weekend and still pay tribute to the ladies who introduced us to the wonderful world of fashion, friendships and sex in the city.
I know the movie doesn’t come out until this weekend, but it debuted in London last night.  My cousin lives there and went to see the movie last night.  I don’t know if the movie is really that good, or if it’s a fix she hasn’t gotten in four years, but she’s going back for more tonight.  Cheers!
